About Us
NWCPS is a community Preschool run by a management committee of devoted volunteer parents. All parents of the children attending the Preschool become members of the organisation upon enrolment, a $5 member fee is required by the Preschool constitution and parents are therefore eligible to stand for election to the committee (to find out how you can volunteer click here). The preschool is a non-profit organisation, funded by direct government grants, fees collected and fundraising initiatives. These three sources must pay for all our expenses. Parents are therefore requested to support fundraising ventures as this is a vital source of revenue for the preschool.
The Preschool operates from 9:00am until 2:30pm each weekday during school terms (ideal for those with siblings at school!), with each session catering for a maximum of twenty children. Each session is staffed by two highly qualified Early Childhood Educators. The preschool provides an additional needs program, for more information on this please contact us.
In addition, there is a parent helper opportunities from around 9:00am to 10:00am to assist the children in craft and help with admin tasks which provides Educators with more opportunities to spend individual time with the children. Being a parent helper also enables you to experience first hand what your child is doing at Preschool and to see how they interact with the other children and Educators ... read more.
Sharing its grounds with Normanhurst West Public School (NWPS), the Preschool is an ideal choice for those looking for a smooth transition to Kindergarten. The Preschool participates in numerous visits to the school including a trip to the Library, watching the annual Police Band performance in the school hall with the students of NWPS and the preschoolers performing their very own End Of Year Concert in the school hall.
Our Director and Educators liaise with the Kindergarten teachers towards the end of each year to give feedback on the preschool graduates, helping them get to know some of the characteristics and abilities to help ensure they have a smooth start to their first few months at big school. In 2018, the preschool received "meeting" the national quality standards.
