Well term 2 is almost over and we have had much learning take place during that time. Senior Constable Ben Adams visited the Preschool on Tuesday this week which encouraged much discussion about how to recognize the police in the community eg: the symbols, badge and blue writing on the police car. He talked to the children about stranger danger, safety messages regarding helmets, seat belts and holding hands to cross the roads. He talked about his uniform and
showed the children some of the equipment he carried on his belt eg. baton and his radio. All the children gave him a “high five” to say thank you for coming to teach us about the role of Police Officers in the community and that they can make us feel safe.

GRANDPARENT DAYS
Our grandparent days held this week are always well attended and enjoyed by grandmas, nanas, nonnas, babas, pop’s, grandads, pa’s and other special people to our children. We trust they enjoyed their morning and thank them for their attendance from as far away as Queensland.
WELCOME TO NEW FAMILIES
We welcomed a couple of new families to the Preschool recently. Daisy and the Cullen family, Robert Hancock and family and Aabah returned early from her holiday. Ivy and the Zheng family will commence after the school holidays on Thursdays and Fridays. We hope they enjoy their time with us.
SHOW AND TELL
The Term 3 updated roster for your child’s allocated day for show ‘n’ tell will be emailed before the end of this term. Please be sure to ONLY bring news on that day due to time restraints. This term the theme for our news is “your favourite book”.
PARENT ROSTER DUTIES
The parent helper roster is now available for Term 3 at the sign in area, can you please add your name to a date that is convenient on a day that your child attends. We kindly ask all parents to assist with at least ONE morning per term to help with domestic duties and become involved in our Preschool daily program. If you are unable to help with parent helper duty then perhaps you could be involved in another way or another. Thank you.

NEW CARS AND SCOOTERS
Another big thank you goes to Tita, the teacher from the early intervention unit of Normanhurst West Early Intervention Unit who purchased some new, very robust scooters and cars for the Preschool’s use. The children who attend her Early Intervention Unit often come out to play and share our playground with children, teaching our children to be more accepting of people that are different to us.

Parents as Partners in our Preschool:
Since we have had the new pavers laid at the Preschool this has improved area around our cubby house in our beautiful playground. Emily (Simone’s mum) and Trudy (Jasmine’s mum) have both also made themselves available to do some planting. Thank you to both of those parents. Trudy sourced the plants from Hornsby council for “free” as seedlings.
The children have also improved the area with some daffodil planting in the pots outside the cubby.
INDIVIDUAL CHILD SUMMARIES
A mid-year individual child summary will be available for you early next term. Please take time to read your child’s portfolio these are always available. If you would then like to meet with Christine or myself to discuss your child’s progress we will be available at a designated time on the dates indicated below. Interviews are not compulsory and reminder if we have any concerns about your child’s development we will advise you personally.
LIBRARY BOOKS TO BE COVERED – Help Needed??
All of our library books have now been sorted, cleaned and categorised. Allison (Zara’s mum) has covered many many many boxes of books – for this we say a huge thank you. If you feel you are able to use contact (sticky book covering) to cover some books for us..... that would be wonderful?? We have “four” boxes to go. Please let me know if you can help, perhaps in the upcoming holidays?? There is a bit of a knack to it..... NO pressure, but bubbles in your book covers are not a good look?!?!?
HEALTH AND ALLERGIES – STRICTLY NUT FREE and EGG FREE (M & T) !!
At our Preschool we have children attending with SERVERE allergies to:
Tree Nuts Olive oil Penicillin
Dairy Yeast Bandaids
Egg (Raw and Cooked) Wheat
Strawberries Gluten
Kiwi Fruits Soy
We have plans in place to minimise risk for children with allergies and all children with allergies need to provide an Action Plan signed by a GP to help us with this. The severity of nut allergies, however, means we also need your help.
How can you help?
Ensure you check all packaging and ingredients
and ensure no items containing nuts are sent to Preschool We appreciate your assistance in this important matter.
On Monday and Tuesdays we ask that NO eggs are
included in your child’s lunch. Thank you for your co-
operation.
OUR PRESCHOOL SUPPORTS HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS AT ALL OTHER TIMES..
We kindly ask as a courtesy, at the end of the day could you please give your child/ren their afternoon tea at home, as we have already cleaned the room for the day and need to keep the Preschool clean for the OOSH children arriving at 2.40pm
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Although we encourage healthy choices most of the time, we do acknowledge children’s birthdays at Preschool. (Sometimes foods)! Parents are invited to bring in a birthday cake or 20small cupcakes and we sing Happy Birthday and share the cake/s. Your child is given a card and a Happy Birthday sticker on their Birthday or the day closest to it......... if you are unsure just check with a staff member. Remember......NO NO NUTS!!!!
PHOTOS
Apologies for the “re-do” of the class photos, Jacquie was sincerely apologetic for this mishap. The last group photo will be taken on Friday 1st July. The photos should be ready for collection early next term if not before. Will let you know.

FROM YOUR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Hello families we hope you are well.
We are your management committee. You're talking and we are listening. A father commented at the Bunnings BBQ that he often wasn't sure what was happening at the Preschool because his wife gets the correspondence. We are now posting our newsletters on our website and facebook page as well as putting diary dates on the Facebook page. If you have any other suggestions then please let Debbie know and we will do our best to accommodate.
The MC is doing a marketing campaign at the moment to fill vacancies for next year and we need your help. Please do the following when you get a chance:
